Levity
Levity emerged from the meeting of structure and softness. What began as Joel Booy’s graduation project evolved into a refined lighting series designed by Studio Truly Truly in collaboration with Graypants.
Each piece in the Levity collection explores contrast and balance — a rigid metal frame supporting a draped textile shade, with light softly diffused through a flexible silicone tube wrapped in a nylon sleeve. The result is a calm, floating presence that conceals technology within a poetic form.
Levity is more than light; it’s atmosphere. Whether hovering above a dining table or defining an open space, it offers a quiet, elegant gesture.
It’s especially meaningful that this design, once Joel’s personal graduation project, now lives on as part of the Graypants collection — connecting its origin story to a new chapter.
The Designer
Based in the Netherlands, Studio Truly Truly is led by Joel and Kate Booy, whose work bridges function and sensuality. Guided by the philosophy Make things properly, honestly, and artfully, their designs reveal the beauty of thoughtful simplicity.
The collaboration with Graypants grew from an existing friendship between Joel Booy and Arno of the Graypants Amsterdam Studio. That personal connection created a natural foundation of trust and curiosity. When they later met Seth from Graypants Seattle, the energy was instant — ideas flowed, enthusiasm followed, and the partnership came to life.
From that spark, Levity found its home within Graypants — a poetic evolution of a student project into a professional collaboration that celebrates shared values: craft, light, and authenticity.
